Credit Crunch Commission
December 30th, 2008 by alanconnettAn independent report recommending a number of actions that can be taken by Teignbridge Council to help residents through the Credit Crunch has been published.
Prepared by a Credit Crunch Commission led by independent Teignbridge Councillor Stephen Purser and involving representatives from the business, voluntary and faith sectors, the Commission has been supported by Teignbridge Council.
A full copy of the report can be found on the Teignbridge website - www.teignbridge.gov.uk — and the recommendations — which range from ‘quick wins’ to longer terms objectives — will now be considered by councillors and, where possible, included in the Teignbridge budget for next year.
Already Teignbridge has indicated it plans to freeze car parking charges next year and is aiming to hold down a number of charges in its leisure services too, writes local councillor Alan Connett.
Congratulations to highways
December 30th, 2008 by alanconnettCongratulations to the staff at Devon Highways based in Newton Abbot for their speedy response. A resident reported to me two large potholes developing on the bridge at Cockwood Harbour, close to the junction with the A379.
Once alerted, highways staff were on site and repaired the damaged areas before finishing on Christmas Eve, writes Cllr Alan Connett.
