Teignbridge Council is looking at the future of the popular New Road car park in Starcross.
It was 11 years ago the Council tried to bring in parking charges for a car park that serves a really important function of keeping cars off the local roads which are already busy and often congested.
Now, the council which is Conservative controlled, has said the car park is surplus to requirements and is looking at the options, One of them, the council says, could be using part of the car park for housing.
Teignbridge is writing to Starcross Parish Council to ask for its views. The matter will be discussed when the parish council meets on Monday (February 10) at 7.30pm in St Paul’s Church meeting room.
My view is that the car park is a really important local facility and should not be built on because it will simply lead to more problems with cars parked the local roads.
